Structured recreation activities provide crucial benefits, allowing youth to learn while having fun.  Games and activities nudge kids out of their comfort zone, helping to improving social skills, teach team work, cultivate imagination and creativity, develop emotional skills and boost physical activity.

TOT SWIM
  • DAYS: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
  • TIME: 11:00am - 1:00pm
  • LOCATION: Swimming Pool - Kiddy Pool
  • AGES: Childen between the ages of 0-5 years old are welcome to come with a guardian who is over the age of 14 years old.

FAMILY SWIM
  • THURSDAYS: 11:00am-1:00pm
  • SATURDAYS: 9:00am-11:00am
  • LOCATION: Swimming Pool
  • Parents must swim with their kids, age 6 months and up
  • Family swim is a family focused swim that requires parents to swim with their children.
  • FEE: $5 drop in fee, $3 for youth, free for kiddos 6 and under
  • Sign in at the front desk prior to participating
  • Do not bring outside toys or floatation devices

DEEP END CRITERIA
  • Wrangell Parks & Recreation is committed to implementing prevention efforts to ensure that all patrons who swim in our pool are safe. To that end, according to industry standards, all patrons will be tested to evaluate minimum swimming abilities, endurance and breath control. A patron that does not take or does not pass the swim test will be restricted from deep water but may still gain access to the shallow end of the pool.
  • Deep Water Swim Test Criteria:
  • Swimmer must Jump from the edge of the pool into deep water, recovering by treading water, keeping head above the surface, for 30 seconds.
  • Swimmer must float on their back, supporting their body at the surface, for 30 seconds.
  • Swimmer must comfortably swim two widths of the pool in deep water, continuously, using the front crawl or breaststroke, with proper breath control.
  • The deep water swim test is used to demonstrate a swimmer’s strength and stamina and the minimum level of swimming ability
  • required for safe deep-water swimming. It is not intended to indicate swimming and stroke competency.

BALLET
  • WHEN: Jan 4th - April 12th
  • DAYS: Saturdays
  • TIME: 9:00AM-9:30AM 3-4 YEARS OLD *Parents must be present during practice
  • TIME:9:45AM-10:30AM 5-7 YEARS OLD
  • TIME:10:30AM-11:30AM 8+ YEARS OLD
  • COST: $35 per dancer
  • WHERE: Community Center
  • RECITAL DATE: April 12th
  • With Victoria Houser!

YOUTH OPEN GYM
  • DAYS:Tuesdays
  • TIME: 10:00AM-12:00PM
  • LOCATION: Community Center Gym
  • AGES: All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
  • FEES: $3 per youth

YOUTH WORKOUT CHALLENGE
  • WHEN: March 24 - April 25
  • DAYS: Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • Weekly workouts will be posted every Monday morning on the whiteboard in the hallway outside the locker room. Track your workouts with stickers on the bulletin board located in the lobby! Remember to focus on form, start with little to no weight, and most importantly—have fun!

  • A parent must actively work out with their child.
  • A Family Fitness MOA must be signed before participating.

  • WHEN: March 27th - April 29th
  • DAYS: Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • TIME: 3:30PM - 5:000PM
  • COST: $3 or punch card
  • WHERE: Community Center Gym
