Youth Recreation and Aquatics Register View Cart

Structured recreation activities provide crucial benefits, allowing youth to learn while having fun.  Games and activities nudge kids out of their comfort zone, helping to improving social skills, teach team work, cultivate imagination and creativity, develop emotional skills and boost physical activity.

TOT SWIM
  • DAYS: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
  • TIME: 11:00am - 1:00pm
  • LOCATION: Swimming Pool - Kiddy Pool
  • AGES: Childen between the ages of 0-5 years old are welcome to come with a guardian who is over the age of 14 years old.

FAMILY SWIM
  • DAYS:Thursdays: 11:00am - 1:00pm
  • DAYS: Saturdays: 9:00am - 11:00am
  • LOCATION: Swimming Pool
  • AGES: All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian

WRANGELL KIDS CLUB
  • DAYS: Mondays
  • TIME: 2:30pm-5:00pm
  • LOCATION: Community Center Gym
  • AGES: Children 7 and older are welcome, children 6 and younger must have a guardian over the age of 14 with them
  • This is a free after school program in conjunction with the Irene Ingle Public Library and the Nolan Center.

INDOOR SOCCER CAMP
  • DAYS: Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • TIME: 4:00-5:00pm for K-2 grade
  • TIME: 5:00-6:00pm for 3-5 grade
  • LOCATION: Community Center Gym
  • AGES: Children ages 5 & 6 must be accompanied by an adult during each practice
  • Clean gym shoes are required
  • DATES: 10/22-11/21
  • SOCCER GAME:
  • Community Center Gym
  • Saturday, November 23rd
  • K-2 games will be from 10:00am-11:00am
  • 3-5 games will be from 11:00am-12:00pm

DEEP END CRITERIA
  • Wrangell Parks & Recreation is committed to implementing prevention efforts to ensure that all patrons who swim in our pool are safe. To that end, according to industry standards, all patrons will be tested to evaluate minimum swimming abilities, endurance and breath control. A patron that does not take or does not pass the swim test will be restricted from deep water but may still gain access to the shallow end of the pool.
  • Deep Water Swim Test Criteria:
  • Swimmer must Jump from the edge of the pool into deep water, recovering by treading water, keeping head above the surface, for 30 seconds.
  • Swimmer must float on their back, supporting their body at the surface, for 30 seconds.
  • Swimmer must comfortably swim two widths of the pool in deep water, continuously, using the front crawl or breaststroke, with proper breath control.
  • The deep water swim test is used to demonstrate a swimmer’s strength and stamina and the minimum level of swimming ability
  • required for safe deep-water swimming. It is not intended to indicate swimming and stroke competency.
