Lap Swim Guidelines


Lap Swim is a dedicated swim time intended for continuous, endurance-based swimming. This program supports fitness, training, and skill development in a structured environment.
Purpose

Lap Swim is designed for swimmers who wish to swim laps for exercise or training. This is not a recreational or play swim, and all participants are expected to swim continuously and share space respectfully.

Pool Use & Lane Sharing
• Lap Swim takes place in designated lap lanes.
• Swimmers should be prepared to share lanes at all times.
• Circle swimming may be required during busy periods, as directed by aquatics staff.
• Lane availability may be limited based on attendance.
Endurance & Participation Expectations
• Swimmers must be able to swim continuous laps for the duration of their participation.
• Stopping to play, hang on lane lines, or stand in lanes is not permitted.
• Resting should be brief and done at the lane wall to allow others to continue swimming.
Youth Swimmer Requirements
• Children are permitted during Lap Swim only if they meet lap swim expectations.
• Youth swimmers must pass a deep-end swim test prior to participating.
• Children must demonstrate sufficient endurance to swim laps continuously during the allotted time.
• Youth who are unable to maintain lap swimming may be redirected to a more appropriate swim session.
Environment & Activity Level
• Lap Swim is active and fitness-focused.
• Swimmers should expect a steady pace, shared lanes, and limited personal space.
• Those seeking recreational play or casual swimming should attend Open, Family, or Combination Swim times.
Facility Expectations
• All swimmers must follow posted pool rules and lifeguard instructions.
• Proper swim attire is required.
