Wrangell Parks and Recreation: Swimming Pool Rules
Welcome to our swimming pool! To ensure a safe, clean, and fun experience for all, please follow the rules.

 
General Conduct
  1. Respect Others: Be courteous to fellow swimmers, lifeguards, and staff at all times.
  2. Supervise Children: Children under 7 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and within reach.
  3. No Running or Roughhousing: Walk at all times on the pool deck and avoid horseplay or unsafe behavior.
  4. No Diving in Shallow Areas: Dive only in designated deep-water areas.
  5. Swim Attire: Appropriate swimwear is required. No street clothes, cut-offs, or non-swim-specific attire.
 
Hygiene & Health
  1. Shower Before Entering: Rinse off in the shower before using the pool.
  2. Stay Home if Sick: Patrons with open wounds, contagious illnesses, or diarrhea within the past 24 hours may not use the pool.
  3. No Spitting or Spouting Water: Keep the pool clean for everyone’s enjoyment.
 
Safety Guidelines
  1. Obey Lifeguards: Lifeguards’ instructions must be followed at all times.
  2. No Glass Containers: Bring beverages in non-breakable containers only.
  3. Flotation Devices: Only Coast Guard-approved life jackets are allowed. No inflatables or water wings.  P&R supplies PFD for use.
  4. Depth Awareness: Pay attention to depth markers and stay within your swimming ability.
  5. Emergency Protocols: Clear the pool immediately when directed by lifeguards during emergencies or drills.
 
For Children & Families
  1. Designated Areas: Young children and non-swimmers should stay in shallow areas
  2. Swim Diapers Required: Infants and toddlers must wear swim-specific diapers.
  3. Age Restrictions: Ensure children 6 yrs or younger are always accompanied by an adult.
 
Lap Swimming & Classes
  1. Lane Sharing: During busy times, share lanes and circle swim as needed.
  2. Class Priority: Certain areas may be reserved for swimming lessons or other programs; please respect scheduled activities.
 
Prohibited Items & Activities
  1. No Alcohol or Drugs: Patrons under the influence will be asked to leave.
  2. No Smoking or Vaping: This includes poolside and surrounding areas.
  3. No Pets: Service animals are permitted on the deck but not in the pool.
