Help Us Get New Wrestling Mats for Wrangell Parks & Recreation!
Our wrestling program has been growing rapidly — and after decades of use, it’s time to retire our old mats and invest in new ones for our athletes. We’re raising funds to purchase two new Resilite flex mats, which are lighter, red with white highlights, and feature a wolf design — a symbol of our team spirit and community pride!
Last year alone, over 60 kids participated in our Youth Wrestling Program, marking our biggest season yet. Each year, more young athletes are stepping onto the mat, building confidence, discipline, and strength while having a ton of fun. With the sport continuing to grow nationwide — especially in girls’ wrestling — we’re proud to see so many Wrangell families getting involved and supporting this exciting movement.
Women’s wrestling is taking the nation by storm — now recognized as the fastest-growing high school sport in the United States. Participation has skyrocketed over the past decade, with more schools adding girls’ wrestling programs each year. The NCAA recently announced women’s wrestling as its 91st championship sport, marking a major milestone for female athletes across the country. This surge in popularity reflects the passion, strength, and determination of young women stepping onto the mat and shaping the future of the sport.
Let's keep the momentum going!

The total cost for the mats is approximately $23,000 (not including shipping). As wrestling continues to thrive in Wrangell, these new mats will provide a safe, high-quality surface for our youth and future generations.
